Experience unparalleled acceleration with the Yonex PC Ad Accel shoes. Yonex, renowned for its commitment to high-quality standards, has unveiled its latest addition to the court shoe scene, set to captivate players worldwide. These shoes ingeniously incorporate a carbon fiber midfoot shank positioned beneath the arch, providing forward propulsion and exceptional impact absorption throughout the court.
Yonex’s signature Power Cushion + foam technology ensures a remarkably supportive and responsive ride from heel to toe, while the Durable Skin Light uppers offer a highly breathable and stable experience. Our playtesters were astounded by the incredible speed and cushioning these Ad Accels provided, making them an ideal choice for players seeking mid-weight shoes that feel like they’re lightweight.
The Ad Accels boast exceptional grip, bordering on being too strong for some testers. However, once broken in, these shoes transformed into a dream come true, offering quick and reliable movement on the court. Players seeking under-the-radar speed shoes should seriously consider the Yonex PC Ad Accels.
Comfort
In terms of comfort, the Ad Accels are incredibly comfortable, even offering a wide range of options for those with specific foot needs. The carbon fiber midfoot shank provides excellent cushioning and stability, while David found the Ad Access to be comfortable after a short break-in period, offering reliable comfort without any fit issues. He described, “The PC Ad Accels required a slight break-in before they felt supple enough for match play. Once the uppers felt comfortable, I never experienced any poking or pinching. Even during extended hitting sessions, I never had any blister or rubbing problems. I also appreciated the level of cushioning the Ad Access provided. My feet felt well protected from impact with the court, yet I also felt low enough to the ground to have that connected feel. These shoes are very stiff in the arch area, and my arches felt very well protected.”
Paul also enjoyed the smooth ride the Ad Accels offered, preferring them over other Yonex options. He noted, “We’ve playtested two Yonex shoes over the past few months, and after coming off the Eclipsion 5s, I was eager to test something with less rigidity. These Ad Accel shoes definitely have ample comfort, primarily due to the carbon fiber midfoot shank, I assume. This springboard plate actually caused a bit of a propulsive sensation underfoot when I was wearing these shoes, and the impact itself feels great when moving around the court. Both from a cushion perspective and a movement angle, these shoes are incredibly comfortable. They feel great when coming down from the air after serves, and they feel silky smooth when moving aggressively.”
Yonex offers a version of the Ad Accels specifically designed for individuals with wider feet, and Lewis was delighted to report that the fit was excellent in this version as well. He mentioned, “Fortunately, Yonex provides a wide option for these shoes, and that’s the model I chose. I found the shoe to be a great fit for my feet—not too wide and not too narrow. I believe it’s an E width. I thought they required a slight break-in period due to some stiffness, but after that, the Ad Access felt incredibly comfortable on the court. The cushioning provided a more responsive feel compared to plush.”
Foot Support / Stability
Continuing to impress our playtest team, the PC Ad Accels offer exceptionally high levels of support. Paul was fully confident in these shoes across various court areas. He remarked, “In terms of stability, the Ad Accels have an exceptional construction. They provide excellent wraparound support that felt easy to lean into and allowed me to push hard during more aggressive movements. Although a bit firm initially, the shoes softened up quite nicely, encouraging me to pursue balls that I normally wouldn’t chase down. The Ad Access felt stable and responsive during slides, enabling me to recover quickly and return to my position. I must emphasize that these shoes are incredibly fast. I believe the support is a significant factor contributing to their speed. Trusting the shoes throughout acceleration and deceleration significantly enhances the results. I would feel completely confident playing a match in these shoes, especially considering how they feel when I’m serving.”
Lewis shared his positive experience with the support provided in these shoes. He explained, “These shoes truly excel in this area. The carbon fiber plate in the midfoot significantly enhances stability. I was able to move side to side and plant my feet without any issues. I felt incredibly confident moving aggressively in the Ad Accels.”
David was also quite pleased with the PC Ad Accel’s support, which allowed him to move swiftly. He remarked, “I discovered an exceptional combination of support and stability in the PC Ad Accels. The uppers provided a glove-like fit for my narrow feet, preventing me from slipping around inside my shoes as usual. The lateral rigidity was also highly impressive. The shoes resisted torque exceptionally well during lateral cuts, and I appreciated the way the midfoot shank flexed. I felt a sense of propulsion forward in these shoes during heel-to-toe transitions, which made me feel incredibly fast on the court.”
Overall Sole Durability
For the most part, the PC Ad Accel’s durability was above average, particularly in the uppers. David didn’t encounter any significant issues regarding outsole wear or the uppers breaking down. He explained, “The outsoles and uppers both held up exceptionally well for me in the PC Ad Accels. I played on a very rough and hard court that can easily wear out both, and I was pleased with how well these Yonex shoes resisted court abrasion. The wear I did observe was minimal and well within what I consider an acceptable level.”
Lewis’ shoes, on the other hand, exhibited an exceptional level of wear resistance. He added, “The outsole appears to hold up exceptionally well. I’ve put about 12 hours on these shoes and can barely see any tread loss. I could easily put 40 to 50 hours on these and still be in good condition.”
Paul, the sole tester who encountered durability issues, might have worn the shoes excessively. He described the Ad Accels’ durability as mostly good, except for a few days before filming the review when his left medial big toe section started wearing through the outsole. While it could be due to his tendency to drag his feet while sliding, he was disappointed to see such wear after only about a month. Granted, they became his daily drivers for most of that month, so he put in a lot of hours. The uppers, however, held up great and remained strong, supportive, and with just the right amount of give.
Traction:
Some team members felt the traction was excessive. David, for instance, was let down by the PC Ad Accels’ grip. He said, “My only complaint with the PC Ad Accels is the traction. These shoes grip too well for me. While all the grip felt good when pushing off for a quick sprint, I felt stuck to the court at times. My feet felt stuck when I tried to pivot or take small adjustments, and my movement felt awkward as a result. Also, I wasn’t comfortable sliding out of shots in these shoes because I feared getting hung up on the court surface.”
Lewis found the excessive traction problematic, hindering his movement. He explained, “There’s a lot of traction here, and unfortunately, that’s not a positive for me. The outsole is super sticky. Not only did that prevent me from sliding in these shoes, but it also meant I got stuck just trying to pivot at times.”
Paul, on the other hand, had a different experience in this category. He was delighted with how responsive the shoes felt on the court. He remarked, “Some other playtesters mentioned that these shoes might be a bit too grippy, but I found that the traction was just right for me after a short break-in period. They felt incredibly fantastic during the initial ‘jump,’ which is crucial for me. The grip was excellent when it came to pushing off my toes and pivoting to my desired position. Additionally, the shoes provided a fantastic court sensation during my serving. I felt like I could set up any way I wanted to serve, and these shoes gave me the grip and trustworthiness I needed.”
Weight
The weight of the Ad Accels once again united our playtest team. Everyone agreed that the weight-to-speed ratio was excellent. For Paul, the delightful experience he had in the shoes continued with their overall mass. He noted, “These are some of the fastest mid-weight shoes I’ve ever tried. They had enough weight to support me during intense movements, but they were light enough for me to accelerate quickly when I needed to drop shot or chase a ball down. I appreciated how the mass of the shoes affected the support factor. The cushion was balanced by having enough material to absorb impact without collapsing.”
Paul also raved about the PC Ad Accels in this performance category. He said, “I had no issues with the weight of the Ad Access. They may not be the lightest shoes, but they’re not cumbersome at all. I think they have a great balance of lightweight feel, stability, support, and durability.”
Similarly, the weight of the shoes felt quite satisfactory for David’s movement needs. He described, “I believe the supportive fit did a good job of concealing any sensation of weight. I felt like the shoes helped me cover the court effectively, and I felt as fast as I could during my forward sprints.”
Conclusion
David: “I’d compare these PC Ad Accels to the KSwiss Ultrashot 3s. Both offer ample support and stability without compromising speed.”
Paul: “The PC Ad Accels might be the closest I’ve come to replicating the feel and playability of the first-generation Nike Vapor Pros. The speed and court sensations were incredibly satisfying, just like those OG Vapor Pros. They gave me that same mindless (or automatic) movement that made me spend countless hours on the Vapor Pros. In terms of fit, they reminded me a bit of the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour, being slightly longer in their geometry and featuring a unibody upper.”
Lewis: “The performance bears a resemblance to the KSwiss Hypercourt Supreme, but with a more low-to-the-ground feel.”
